Six quick parallels between parenting and group leadership

This weekend our oldest child is getting married! We are extremely excited and pleased as she moves into the next phase of life. She has chosen a great mate to travel the rest of her life with, truly a man of character.

As I think back over the years about raising our children I’ve come to find some parallels to leading a small group!

Like children:

1. New groups (and believers) can be messy. There is a whole lotta cleaning up.

2. Young group members need to learn how to relate to each other in the sandbox.

3. Caring for others is a lot of work.

4. As love for the group grows, a leader becomes less focused on their own needs.

5. Nothing is as energizing as seeing real life-changing growth.

6. There comes a time to let them go.

Any more that you can think of?
